ESPN Layoffs Hit Roughly 100 Staffers

The rumors have been swirling for a while. ESPN has not been doing well financially and ratings have been dropping with so many options to consume sports content. The one-time world leader in sports is fighting for eyeballs with competitors such as Fox Sports 1, NESN, and Barstool Sports to name a few. And with more and more people cutting cords and going strictly online, the sports space is even more crowded.

ESPN decided it was time to cut some salaries and restructure. The name that has me most bummed is Jay Crawford. He seems like the most genuinely happy guy despite being a diehard Cleveland sports fan. Other big names fired include former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer and longtime employee Ed Werdner.

With the loss of all these employees, ESPN also loses their massive combined Twitter following of 3,244,897. BroBible broke it down by personality.
